The roads dyed with golden autumn colors in the US
Mid-September is the ideal time to take a road trip to see nature change across the United States.
97th Street is located at The Hawk’s Nest of Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River National Park, New York, built in 1859, is one of the famous autumn scenic routes in the US. In particular, the winding section around the high cliffs, on one side is the Delaware River valley, often appearing in the advertising of world famous car companies. It is also the setting of many movies such as Doctor Strange (2016), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)…
In early September, the White Mountains in New Hampshire were dyed red by the brilliantly colored maple forest, making it an ideal photo spot for photographers. The road up the mountain has small slopes up and down, like a soft silk strip weaving between two rows of trees. Photo: VisitNH
Yosemite National Park, California, is not a place with brilliant golden autumn colors because most of the trees here are still green in this season, but driving on the passes, admiring the natural scenery on sunny days, good weather. Cool weather brings comfort. Around mid-October, a few spots in the park with maple trees, black oak trees… will change color, but not much.
Colorado’s Arapaho National Forest is the right place to take a road trip to see the beautiful autumn change. The forest includes part of the Rockies, the upper Colorado River valleys and the South Platte River, possessing a diverse ecosystem.
Utah, the land of wonders such as Monument Valley, Arches National Park, Zion National Park… has also moved into autumn. The beginning of October is the peak tourist season, when the leaves turn red and yellow, covering the mountains. At this time, people who love to move began to plan excursions on deserted roads.
Referring to the fall, it is impossible to ignore the state of Vermont – which is mentioned by many travel magazines as one of the most poetic autumn lands in the United States. Although sparsely populated, Vermont still attracts tourists by its fairyland-like natural scenery, especially the roads stretching up the mountain, the two sides of the forest are covered with red and yellow clothes.
Around Vermont, you sometimes come across a few red-walled houses that blend in with nature, creating a peaceful scene. In recent years, the state has introduced new policies, even paying more money to encourage people to move in.
The road in Stowe, a town in Lamoille County, Vermont, seems to go through the woods, leading to nothingness. Each year, Nathan Lee (American photographer) spends time traveling around the United States photographing roads in the fall. These photos not only save memories of the journey, but also inspire him to continue to explore the seemingly endless roads ahead.
